AYOS Goals
The goals of the AYOS weekend are:
1) to help participants explore their personal values with respect to sport, leadership and the Olympic Movement, and to explore the application of these values in their own lives
2) to help participants understand the values and aspirations of Olympism including the pursuit of excellence, fair play, and intercultural understanding
3) to have the participants
explore various sport issues
4) to contribute to the leadership abilities of the participants
5) to introduce participants to Olympians,
elite athletes and other sport leaders, and to help them
understand the structure of the sport community
6) to show participants how they can extend the process of sharing the Olympic experience within their schools and communities, and to challenge the participants to take something back to their families, schools and communities
7) to have fun and experience a variety of physical activities

At the completion of the Symposium it is hoped that participants will:
1) become ambassadors for
the Olympic values in their communities
2) understand that excellence is process-oriented, not solely performance-oriented; and that excellence is an attitude and striving for excellence is more important than actual performance
3) devise personal definitions of both Olympism and individual excellence
4) develop a network of friends throughout the province
