Event Information
The Alberta Youth Olympic Symposium (AYOS) is a leadership development program for Alberta high school students. Up to forty students in grades 10-12 will be selected to attend this 3 1/2 day residential workshop in Calgary, Alberta. It is designed for students who have an interest in leadership and
sport.
AYOS 2010 will be held
Apr 29 - May 2, 2010 at the Ambrose University College in Calgary.
The delegates are responsible for arranging their own
transportation to and from the event venue. The program
starts in the late afternoon on the 29th and finishes around
lunchtime on May 2. The application information for AYOS 2010
is now available.
We are grateful for the financial support that we have received
in the past from the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
The registration fee for AYOS 2010 is $200. This is payable after successful applicants have been notified.
The 3.5 day program includes:
- Learning about leadership styles and effectively working with others
- Learning about the Olympic values and how they can be applied to everyday life
- Goal-setting exercises
- Hearing great stories from various Olympic and national team athletes—and other sport and community leaders
- Creating action plans for making a difference in the community,
debating Olympic and sport issues and learning about the Olympic Movement

Visiting various Olympic venues around Calgary

Trying some “not so mainstream” physical activities… such as goal ball
and African dance
